Slaughterhouse - Slaughter In Da’ House! CD [Psyrex]
Slaughterhouse Crew - Slaughter In Da House CD [Psyrex]
Tracklist:
1. New Shit
2. Piano
3. Dark Trust
4. Slaughter
5. My Neighbourhood, Your Hell
Last year we introduced you to the Slaughterhouse crew who were making moves in Nottingham. Since then they have undergone a bit of a re-shuffle in terms of personnel, but never the less they are still knocking out some fat tunes and A&R representatives should also be hearing the knocking on their doors. SlaughterHouse have been performing live on special guest slots courtesy of funk band Fat Digester and continue with their successful monthly live performances from the Lincoln Hip Hop scene to the Nottingham music festival.

This crew have a unique sound and are ripe to get their sound known. Producer Produkt has moved on to other projects and Psyko has stepped up in his place. As they say they are, 'breathing much needed life into the national corpse of Hip-Hop culture, exposing the industry to a transfusion of new blood'.

So the new line up includes producer Psyko and vocalists Fox and 1st Lady alongside DJ G. Producer Psyko explains ‘With Fox Slaughterhouse has the face of the future for UK Hip Hop and 1st Lady has the voice to melt the darkest heart. And then there’s G – The Slaughterhouse DJ – our secret weapon!’

For this new material SlaughterHouse have hooked up with local record label Psyrex and record at the Psyrex Soundlab again based in Nottingham. This demos is definitely at the top in terms of quality level when compared to other demos. It is well produced and pretty much ready to roll including the packaging! The first track, New Shit, albeit quite short is a hyper jump up tune which gets you in the mood for checking out this crew. Sharp cuts kick it off before the shuffling beat and synths which give the track a bit of an Electro feel. The MC sparks it nicely.

Piano as you might imagine features a piano for most of the production and another shuffly beat, with the backing sounding quite minimalist. The local accent is in effect and the vocals are a bit introspective and contain some emotion and feeling. The chorus doesn't have much impact, but does feature 1st Lady on the vox.

Dark Trust is where the crew get a touch harder and get aggy over another minimal beat which consists of Hi Hats and some flute / whistle sound in the background. The harshness of the rap is counterbalanced once again by 1st Lady in the chorus.

Slaughter opens up with some nice vocal samples and cutting for a clubby track on which Fox really gets busy and drops some very nice flows which ride the riddim exquisitely. The final track My Neighbourhood, Your Hell rounds off this set of demo tracks and starts off almost accapella stylee with only quiet bongos and cuts for a backing. As the track progresses some keys are added and later some strings until by the end the full arrangement kicks in, which isn't actually that full. As the track draws to an end DJ G drops some old skool ahhh cutting Mixmaster Ice style cuts.

So once again the Slaughterhouse crew have delivered the goods. A relatively diverse sounding 5 tracks in which they state what this group aim to achieve. The design is crisp once again and continues the blood splattered theme of their earlier demo. The artwork is sharp and simple and exudes a professional aura. When this gets an official release be sure to look it up.
