Since young, when flicking through music magazines to check listings for gigs, he would always glance at the photos of previous concerts. The majority of the time he felt a bit disappointed by a classic portrait shot, the flash freezing the performer, as he says, "a wash out of colour, technically sound, but uninspired. What about the hazy collage of lights, the intensity of the music, the atmosphere?" The Focused Observer has some strong views on photography, "Expression is imperative to a good photo. When people are truly taken by the music, whether dancing, playing an instrument, listening to a walkman or in a live crowd, their experience reaches new levels". As he explains, "It is this spiritual essence that I want to capture utilising the artistic and scientific medium of photography". He goes on to elucidate, "Music Photography really came about for me because I simply love music and enjoy creating images in inspirational and stimulating surroundings". "Thought is impossible without an image" - Aristotle None of the images incurred any digital manipulation except for the text added to the images. |
