Jay Sean - Stolen CD [Relentless / Virgin]
Jay Sean
Tracklist:
01. Stolen Radio Version
02. Rishi Rich Remix
Following on from the massive success of his single ‘Eyes On You’ which crashed into the UK single chart at number 6 in June, UK Asian rapper / singer Jay Sean is set to release his follow up single Stolen, on October 18th. Stolen is a stunningly atmospheric mid-tempo track which contains a traditional Indian sample. The press release states that, ‘Stolen showcases the much-touted Jay as an incredible British talent destined for huge cross over success this year'. No doubt he as a wide appeal and produces radio friendly tracks.

The easy listening Stolen contains a sample from “Chura Liya” which is taken from the classic Bollywood movie “Chura Liya Hai Tumne” – apparently this is one of the oldest and Biggest traditional Asian tracks of all time. Jay Sean works it well into the arrangement which is lavish in its instrumentation. Jay's emotive singing is lushly produced, the intonation iss on point and fits the typical love story of a girl who stole his heat contained in the lyrics.

The track has been produced by Rishi Rich, whose previous credits include producing Britney Spears, Mary J Blige and Craig David. He represents UK multi culturalism and incorporates all influences from many genres including some cutting in the intro. The remix track features a tabla and even more of a traditional feel. It is a touch harder with heavier bass, pitched up and hence altogether more dance floor ready.

Jay, who trained to be a doctor before dropping out to pursue music, is also continuing to build a reputation as a fantastic live performer, regularly performing with the Rishi Rich Project in front of crowds of 2,500 + around the UK. He will continue to cement this reputation when he tours the UK in October – dates to be announced shortly.

‘Eyes On You’ was not Jay’s first taste of chart success – last year he collaborated on ‘Dance with You (Nachna Tere Naal)’, with the Rishi Rich Project which reached number 12 in the charts. Since then Jay has become a huge name on the Asian Music Scene and is now starting to firmly establish himself in the mainstream.

‘Stolen’ is taken from Jay’s debut album ‘Me Against Myself’, which is going to be released on October 25th.‘Me Against Myself’ and ‘Stolen’ are both released through Relentless.
