MAG - Music Advice Guide / Punch Records

Punch are known throughout the Midlands as a retail store, promoter, marketeer and highly acclaimed education organisation. With a unique blend of commercial respectability and community conscience they work with the region's most respected artists to organise events, help young people into the music industry, deliver music workshops in schools across the Midlands and develop the urban music scene locally. Now focussing on their more educational activities which include short curses in all elements including DJing, MCing and percussion as well as working with local and community groups to organise seminars and other related events for those interested in the music industry Punch are looking to make what they have learned through their experiences freely available to anyone who may be interested.

Stemming from their work with Young People and the youngsters constant need for advice and information about Music, Punch have decided to create a web based music advice directory. After two years of planning, research and design, they finally have The MAG (Music Advice Guide) ready to go, which is due to be launched in February 2004.

The MAG, whist primarily web based will be available in a brief hard copy format for those who cannot access the website and as a promotional tool which can be taken out into the streets. The hard copy MAG is a Music Education Directory booklet for Young People based within the Midlands Region. The booklet is supported with a website, which is online now for people to register their details so we can inform them of the official launch date – www.themag.org.uk

The MAG aims to include information and a web link of a whole variety of companies, businesses and publications as it is felt that the dissemination of the information to the youth is vital in today’s Music Industry and therefore important for Young People to be aware of these sources of information.

The aforementioned booklet and online service are absolutely FREE to all. And though the booklet has a Regional focus the website is National and aims to support all who have a link to the Music Industry.
