Semantix Tha Sorcerer - Talk / Shepherd The Weak CD [Splatta House / Urban City Productionz]
Semantix Tha Sorcerer - Talk / Shepherd The Weak CD [Splatta House / Urban City Productionz]
Tracklist:
01. Talk [Radio]
02. Shepherd The Weak [Dirty]
03. Day Of Reckoning [Radio]
Regiimental and his Gnostix crew are bubling away right now. Regii has his Wordz From Da Regiment out right now and fellow Splattahouse productions member Semantix has his record set to drop. Not sure, but I think this is a debut and the CD I have contains three tracks.

The first track Talk is taken from the forthcoming LP Cloak and all the production work is handled by the multitalented Semantix. The slow tempo tune samples up some great vocals which I will tiredly describe as Kanye esque with their sped up nature. This sample interleaves with some long drawn out strings for a very convincing backing. Semantix delivers his rap in a suitably understated way to match the intensity of the track. Semantix relates how people can on occasion chat a load of rubbish, but he is able to spot this and tells us how he is spitting real rap and creating the music you feel.

Track two Shepherd The Weak is also culled from the Cloak LP and again makes use of a vocal sample in the intro and chorus. This is an altogether harder type of track with the timpani making for a throbbing and powerful background. Semantix also steps up with a more furious delivery. He is still very controlled, but the intensity is upped a notch to once again sit well with the musical backing.

This is where things get a little funny as there are four tracks on the CD and only 3 listed on the sleeve. The thrid and I guess it is a kind of bonus is Regiimental's Day Of Reckoning which is taken from Regii's LP. The reason for the inclusion of this track, apart from some cross-promotion is because Semantix did the beat for this track as well. It offers some acoustic guitar and a banging, but almost overpowering bassline. Again a rocking track which just excites you about what Semantix is doing and how he is communicating his feeling.

The final track, is a two minute compilation of snippets of other Semantix tracks which give you a taster of what else you can expect on his LP when it drops. Tasty stuff. All told, I like Semantix and the type of music he is bringing forth. Look out for more noise from the East Midlands coming your way.
