Crack
Real Name: James Greenway
Artist Name: Crack
D.O.B.: 20/08/1985
Occupation: Student
City: Bradford
Years Rapping:

Crack is an MC from Tong in Bradford, who after rapping for 2 years feels he is now ready to try and get out there. To do this he has made a nine track demo entitled Cracked Dreams which he is distributing to showcase his skills. Being an MC he has not let the lack of a production team hold him back as he has chosen to lay his lyrics over some banging classic mid tempo US instrumentals. This is a technique anyone can use in order to get some material together to let people hear their style and give an indication of their seriousness about working hard to make it happen for themselves.

The main observation that one should draw after listening to Crack is the depth and meaning of the lyrics. It is good to hear an MC who can come with topics and hold them for the duration of a track rather than having to resort to simple brag raps. Not only does this display forethought and planning of the stories, but also a desire to impart something of himself, his character, emotions and beliefs through his words. Crack definitely has a great deal of energy in his delivery which is maintained across all the tracks.

Whilst talking to Crack, he broke down exactly why he chose to do this, "I got into hip hop through Sir-Mix-Alot, I heard "You can have her" on a skating video when I was about 13 or 14, and had to go and buy it. From there I just got deeper and deeper into hip hop and found the underground scene (both in the UK and USA) and found it refreshing from all the usual commercial tracks I had heard previously. I started writing lyrics about 2yrs ago when I stumbled across an internet rap board and thought it might be fun. From there I just started rapping my lyrics to my friends and got a microphone shortly after, and just elevated from there. Now I am looking to move onto bigger and better things, get to more open mics, get on mix tapes and start doing shows. What just started out as a bit of fun, has turned into a great passion - my aim has never been to get signed, I rap because I love it and that is all. I just think now I should try and get heard by more people so am making actions to try and get that to happen".

To give you an idea of where Crack is coming from, as a Hip Hop artist he lists a variety of Hip Hop influences which include classic acts like: Vinnie Paz, Mr Lif, Sole, Aesop Rock, CunninLynguists, Canibus, Copywrite and Eyedea, as well as the best the UK has to offer including: Braintax, Jehst, Lewis Parker and the 57th Dynasty to name a few.

Crack like many other cats is a highly talented, motivated, and hard working artist whose next career step would be to get some original production to back him to take his music to the next level. Crack is currently looking for any record labels to hook him up with some studio time and production, he is also trying to get on as many mix tapes as possible.
