M.O.S.
M.O.S.
M.O.S. (Mohammed Omar Sarwar), born September 17 1981, grew up in Doncaster, South Yorkshire until July 1994 when his family moved to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne where he was educated. He spent much time during his formative years listening to a wide variety of music, fine tuning his ears especially to hip hop music. At the age of 15, M.O.S. produced his first track, and has been writing, producing and performing his own original material since. The majority of the production has been carried out from his own home in his own bedroom, where he has managed to produce some outstanding music. From 1998 onwards M.O.S. has been consistently producing underground mixtapes containing his own original tracks, mainly being distributed locally through family and friends. In total, since 1998, M.O.S. has written, produced and performed over 300 original compositions.

His last piece of work 'Hidden Elements' was available to buy in 'Southern Playa' Sheffield. M.O.S. has performed live on a number of occasions, the most recent event was with DJ Slick at 'Po Na Na' in Sheffield as part of this summer's 'Freedom Festival'.

M.O.S. describes his music as underground UK hip hop with an appealing hard core yet articulate edge. Lyrically very sharp, metaphorical, educated and politically conscious as an asian male living in the UK. Musically the production is undeniably in the hip hop format, however the beats are very diverse and have clearly been influenced by a variety of genres, including; soul, jazz, funk, breakbeats as well as traditional asian desi vibes.

Currently M.O.S. is working on a collaborative project with an extremely talented up and coming MC from Manchester known as 'Maj-St', as well as also working on new material for his forthcoming album which is due for completion in the near future.

As a hip hop artist, M.O.S. lists his hip hop influences to include; Eric B. & Rakim, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-1, RUN-DMC, Public Enemy, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, N.W.A., 2 Pac, Biggie, Redman, Keith Murray, Erick Sermon, Wu-Tang, Dj Premier, Gang Starr, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Tha Dogg Pound, Ras Kass, Boot Camp Click, Das EFX, Nas, Jay-Z, Big L, A Tribe Called Quest and Mos Def to name a few.

M.O.S. is a highly motivated, hard working and professional artist who takes his art form very seriously, and is very keen to take his career to the next level so that he can be heard on a greater plateau. At this stage M.O.S. is open to any type of work, whether it be as a solo artist, as a producer or on a collaboration project. Up until now, this hugely underrated hip hop sensation has gone largely unrecognised, and has not yet received the recognition and respect which he deserves.
